When I found this 5 years ago, I hadn’t found Tumblr yet & was so was just archiving things. But thanks to William Gibson & Neal Stephenson, Philip K. Dick & Jeff Noon, I knew that in the not-too-distant future this piece would be even more on point. Just how ubiquitous blogs would (& will) become I had yet to grok.
Yours for only $590!
Samsara (2012), directed & photographed by Ron Fricke, is in select theatres now. Do yourself a favour & see it on the big screen to fully appreciate the 70mm film & overall effect. It’s not a “movie” per se, more of a sensory tour de force. The cost of seeing the places in the first 5 minutes of the movie would be at least 100x more than your movie ticket. Beautiful.
Fantastic free software that automatically dims your computer monitor and cuts out the blue spectrum light rays — so much easier on the eyes! It’s tiny and can be easily disabled temporarily for colour-sensitive work. Our brains associate blue light with daytime and it inhibits the secretion of melatonin by the pineal gland. So this software helps our brains stay closer to their natural daylight-induced circadian rhythm.
